Soybean production drops to 40 MMT and corn to 32 MMT

GEA

Soybeans decline by 6.5 million tones and corn by 3 million tones compared to what was calculated in February. SOYBEAN 2017/2018 Humidity remained insufficient in the soils, so the first soybean crop continued to form pods and fill their grains in the worst conditions. After the growth of the wheat area, soybeans take 4.2 million hectares this year, that is 23% of the 18 million hectares of the oilseed in Argentina. The yields could be below 2,0 to 1,5 Tn/ha. The province of Entre Rios would lose almost 0,8 tons and would pass to 1,23 Tn/ha. Córdoba with 0,5 tons less, would get 2,23 Tn/ha, so it would be 1,0 tons less than last year. Santa Fe loses 0,31 tons and is now estimated at 2,75 tons. Buenos Aires drops 2 quintals from what was estimated in February and would get 2,44 Tn / ha. But the north of the country could be left out of this great negative context. There are good chances that the rains will arrive in the coming days in the productive areas of Chaco and Santiago del Estero. The rains could leave accumulated that could even exceed 70 and 80 mm in the next days. In this way, they would arrive at a crucial moment for the soybean. The provincial expectations  are around 2,7 and 2,8 tons. Considering the adjustments in the different areas, the national average yield is estimated at 2,36 Tn/ha; 0,32 tons less than in the previous report. Therefore, soybean production is estimated at 40 million tons. CORN 2017/2018 The production estimate declined from 35 to 32 millions tons . In Entre Ríos, Córdoba, Santa Fe and Buenos Aires the greatest productive damages are being strengthened. In any case, Santa Fe would obtain the highest provincial yield: 7,0 Tn/ha, although it loses 0,56 tons compared to February. Buenos Aires would achieve a yield of  6,32 Tn/ha. Córdoba is estimated with a yield of 6,02 tons. These 0,8 tons less than a month ago represent a great productive blow, as they have an impact on a decrease of 2 millions tons. Entre Ríos fell  0,12 tons and the provincial yield would be 4,5 Tn/ha.  The total area planted remains unchanged at 6.43  million hectares. The yield of the campaign drops 0,47 tons from what was estimated in February. The national yield is updated to 5,98 Tn/ha. The estimated yields and their tendency will be verified when the Argentine harvest takes force. Corn production is estimated at 40 million tons.
