03/07/2017 0:00 - Crop Progress and Condition Reports
GEA – Agricultural Strategic Guide/BCR
The region aims to add a hundred thousand more hectares with corn

It would plant 10% more corn than last year. It was about 1.1 millions of hectares. After years of area decline and negative margins, corn is growing in the region. However, the high initial investment puts a limit on the crop in the region. Commercial movements of inputs in the area indicate that the crop is at the highest level of available technology.

Wheat 2017/18: fertilized to repeat last year's yields

In much of the core region, nitrogen has been planned to respond to a potential yield of between 4 and 5 tons. Wheat is taking a place of great importance in the region.

Wheat is approaching the final stretch of implantation

The progress of planting is 85% in the region, but with wide differences according to each zone. While in the center of Santa Fe and east of Córdoba, the implantation of the cereal gained 90% of the intentional surface, in the north of Buenos Aires the planting is still very behind, between 50% and 70% of the area.
